Maroune Chamakh has had a dip in his early season form in recent times and hence was rested by Wenger to give him sufficient time to get back in form. He’s got better off lately but still his confidence is not back to his best. But is it correct to suggest that Bendtner is above him in the pecking order. I don’t think so.
From my perspective, Chamakh is a brilliant centre forward who has helped us for almost half our season. He holds the ball extremely well,has physical presence,is good with his Moroccan head and gives Arsenal another dimension which was completely visible when he was in the starting line-up. His bulldog-like approach is second to none in the team.
What has happened to him is that he has given more than his 100% to Arsenal and that’s what has burned him. But let’s just compare him to the World renowned striker Bendtner(who perhaps has been scoring 30 goals a season!). His work-rate is the most alarming thing for me.I mean that it’s not that bad if you’re world-class and don’t work hard. You just have to look at Berbatov or Arshavin as an example.
But the truth is that Bendtner is not a Berbatov. Nor is a Arshavin.I might refer to him as lower version of Berbatov but the thing is that he works even lesser than those two. Combine that with his poor first touch,abysmal finishing and his arrogant attitude and you get a full-fledged robot with some manufacturing defects.His efforts over 5 games might just equals Chamakh’s over one.
I also like the fact that Chamakh has impressed in his recent appearances. He’s looked sharp with his touch and threatening with his head. Also, he’s tried some shooting from range which he never did earlier. This shows that he’s willing to learn and is determined to become better. Bendtner’s progress has just stalled. He is just one of those talented boys who isn’t willing to work hard.
Arsenal do need another striker but not to increase numbers but quality. Cause the reality is that Bendtner is not good enough.I know how much he helped us last season but along with that, he wasted around 5 times the chances on which he scored. Why not give Vela an elongated run in the team.From what I’ve seen, he’s extremely clinical(highly unlikely for an Arsenal player) and fast.He will also come back stronger after his loan spell(I just wish he’d gone to Bolton).
But that’s what I believe.Van Persie,Chamakh,Vela(or a striker bought in) and JET(Bendtner to be sold) is my preferred choice.What do you guys think??
