Arsenal take on Liverpool today, Spuds on Wednesday and Bolton on Sunday. Bloody hell of a week. I guess thinking about the nine points is certainly not right when we haven’t got a single one presently. I guess this week is more important than the United clash.
Everyone’s talking about 1st May, the title decider, the match of the season and blah blah blah. But what if Arsenal lose or draw even one of their 3 upcoming games. The whole season will go down the drain. The most important thing at this moment in time is to take each game as it comes. That’s what I’ve learnt to do so this season. And so will Arsenal.
I expect an Arsenal win today purely because of the fact that the players have become more vocal & macho in recent weeks. You just have to look up to the van Persie-Diaby bust-up to see what I mean. Also don’t forget who’s back. Djourou. Szczesny. Song. I think these are the only 3 players who provide stability to our defence(obviously except Vermaelan).
Chesney’s contribution this season is underrated mainly because of Djourou. He’s been excellent.Superb.Or World-class should I call it. But Chesney has commanded his box like a true great. I believe that all our keepers are superb shot-stoppers(even Almunia). But that’s not even half of what’s required to be great keeper at this level. At Arsenal’s level. I mean Almunia would do great at Blackburn, Birmingham or New Castle. Just as Robinson, Foster and Harper are doing.
The most important thing is confidence. Confidence to claim a cross headed towards Drogba or Samba. Confidence to come out if and only if needed. And most importantly, confidence to come out of a bad spell. Mental strength to prove doubters wrong after a clanger. That’s what Chesney has in plenty.
Djourou has been a revelation. I don’t know a fan who rated him at the started and would’ve picked him over Squillaci.Yes, that’s Squillaci I mentioned. But how he’s proved us wrong. And finally Alexander Song. Our beloved Song without whom we’ve won just a single game in the league(Blackpool last week). His positioning is superb. He’s always there near every attacking threat.Something that Wilshere might need to learn a bit(although he’s still good at it).
Coming back to the game, Suarez along with Caroll are almost certain to start. Suarez for me is world-class and among the elite of strikers.Caroll, certainly not. It is Suarez whom I’m wary of as he’s the one who’s got Liverpool ticking in recent weeks. At 23 millions, he certainly was a bargain.
I hope that Chamakh starts with van Persie upfront. But that’s highly unlikely to happen. Expect it to be thriller but not many goals beacuse of our great defence and our lack of finishing in front of goal.
1-0 to the Arsenal. Go Get ‘em.
